Small and Medium Enterprise. The European Union (EU) defines a small enterprise (i.e., industrial group, or enterprise) as one with fewer than 50 staff and a medium enterprise as one with fewer than 250 staff. There are not any normal United States definitions for small or medium enterprises, though a small enterprise typically is described as one with fewer than 100 staff. An enterprise with fewer than 10 staff is mostly categorized as a small workplace/dwelling workplace (SOHO) or a microbusiness. A big enterprise enterprise (LBE) is bigger than a medium enterprise. See additionally LBE and SOHO.
